Since World Autism Awareness Day in 2012, research is advancing autism understanding and treatment.  Studies have unveiled that researchers can detect pre-symptom markers of autism as early as 6 months.  While evaluating high-quality early intervention procedures for autism spectrum disorder (ASD), they found early intervention can do more than improve behaviors, it can improve brain function.  Though autism tends to be life long journey, some children with ASD make so much progress that they no longer meet the diagnostic criteria for autism.  Investors and product developers have been enthusiastically responding to a calling for developing products and services addressing the unmet needs of the autism community.  One way has been through early clinical trials using first medicines for treating autism’s core symptoms.

As the days and years progress, more discoveries will come to light in regard to autism awareness.  But today one of the best practices is to promote patient, positive, up building relationships between family, friends and your community.  Introduce and interact with your loved one with others who may play important roles in their life such as teachers.  Acceptance will only come with awareness and understanding.  Support National Autism Awareness and show others how they can become a part of the puzzle.
