Central Mass South Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year Award

On November 13, 2014, Central Mass South Chamber of Commerce honors Center of Hope Foundation’s Marketing Representative, Jennifer Valois for receiving the 2014 Chamber Volunteer of the Year Award.  Ceremonies took place during the CMS Chamber Annual Meeting & Luncheon held at Southbridge Hotel and Conference Center, 14 Mechanic Street, Southbridge, MA.

Center of Hope Annual Golf Tournament

Originally the Center of Hope’s Golf Tournament was planned for August 13, 2014 at the Heritage Country Club located in Charlton, MA.  Unfortunately Mother Nature took over and a tournament of Boating would have been better suited for that day.  Marie Barse, CoHF Fund-raiser Director, and Heritage Country Club quickly put into action a new plan to reschedule the annual tournament two weeks later.  On this day, August 27, 2014 the weather couldn’t have been better at 90 degrees and a comfortable breeze to offset the heat.

Community Business Connections Appreciation Breakfast

The Arc – Center of Hope Foundation, Inc. Southbridge, MA hosted a Community Business Connections (CBC) Appreciation Breakfast on May 20, 2014, at the Southbridge Hotel & Conference Center, thanking its community business partners.  Our relationships with local and national companies have provided employment to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.  These have led to direct employment, sub-contract work at the agency’s NORESS Corporation and purchasing of services/products at the Center’s other 13 small businesses.

We are ALL meant to shine!  All Aboard The Arc!  May 7, 2014

The Massachusetts chapters of The Arc brought together a crowd of over 350 people to celebrate diversity and support community inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  This year’s theme, “We are ALL meant to Shine!” was truly celebrated with a beautiful, sunny day at the Boston Common.  Emcee Al Getler drew the attention of the crowd, welcoming supporters and program members of The Arcs, who created a sea of orange as they marched in and waved their flags to the inspirational song “We are marching on.”

24th Annual Legislative Breakfast hosted by the Center of Hope Foundation, Inc., Central Mass Providers & South Valley DDS Citizen Advisory Board.

Jim Howard, Executive Director of the Center of Hope Foundation, Inc. welcomed over 100 attendees, 20 of which were Legislators and Candidates during our “Year of Celebration” Legislative Breakfast held at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester on April 7, 2014.  Linda Cournoyer, Family Support Director of Seven Hills Family Services and President of the Center of Hope Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors and Cindy Howard, Director of Operations for the Center of Hope Foundation, Inc. were the moderators for the event.

Boot, Scoot, and Boogie – Country for a Cause 2014 – March 22, 2014

Saturday, March 22, 2014 marked the 19th Annual Mychael David and Susan Jayne performance with “The Help Wanted Band” at Point Breeze Restaurant in Webster benefiting the Center of Hope Foundation.  Over 200 people stomped their boots to the beat of fantastic music, including Mychael David’s first single “Nothin” which spent an amazing 34 weeks on the Indie World Charts before topping at #1.  The Lyrics to the song “Nothin” talks of an older man living in the moment “with nothin but a smile on his face.”  Similarly, the Center of Hope Foundation provides opportunities for individuals with disabilities to live more independently, participate within their communities and enjoy life to the fullest through day habilitation, vocational services and recreational activities such as Special Olympics.

The Sharks Support The Arc – January 25, 2014

The crowd was wild on Saturday night, January 25, 2014.  Over 9000 people filled the seats at the DCU Center in Worcester to watch rivals Worcester Sharks and Providence Bruins play at 7 p.m.  The Center of Hope Foundation was pleased to have an opportunity to display Center of Hope literature and advocate on behalf of our agency and those we serve.  Some of the highlights during the event for the Center of Hope Foundation was participating in the ceremonial puck drop, along with the Boy Scouts, and leading the Worcester Sharks players out onto the ice in a “High Five” welcome.
