Since 1956, SWCARC, Inc., the Center of Hope has offered a continually evolving list of services for persons with disabilities. The agency has grown far beyond its initial mission and first program, a school for children with Mental Retardation, to its present state, offering a wide range of day and family support program for both children and adults with disabilities. From our Day Services and Employment Programs for Adults to our Summer Camp Programs and After-school Groups for Children, the Center’s programs offer opportunities for personal growth, friendship, skills building and community membership.
We are constantly focused on providing excellent services and meeting the needs of the children and adults we serve. Our focus is on helping each individual achieve his or her greatest level of independence. Whether it’s helping a child make a new friend at summer camp, or helping an adult with a cognitive or physical disability find their dream job, our agency’s mission continues to drive our quest for success for every program member.
Our agency offers a wide range of services that are tailored to meet individual’s needs. Our Pioneer Valley Day Habilitation Program specializes in serving individuals who have significant physical and medical needs. The Quinebaug River Day Habilitation Program is geared for the younger, more active individual and is full of busyness and positive energy. Our Southbridge Day Hab Program offers quieter programming, and is a great match for older individuals and those who need ongoing medical oversight. The Center of Hope Day Habilitation Program is the largest program, however many of its members attend the program part time, and are involved in the Center’s Employment Supports Program part time. Our Employment Supports and Community Based Day Support Programs offer a wide range of paid and volunteer work opportunities.
